Looking to meet other single lesbian and queer women and nonbinary people who are open to genuine connection? Join us for a week of shared adventures and opportunities to explore new possibilities in love and relationships.
Led by queer community leader Vee, this retreat combines relaxed social experiences with daily guided reflection sessions to better recognize patterns in relationships and gain clarity about what you're looking for in a partner.
Between sessions, enjoy yoga, a waterfall hike, kayaking, shared meals, and plenty of free time to connect with others or simply relax by the ocean.
The retreat includes accommodations at a boutique beachfront hotel, select meals, and daily activities.
Come solo or bring a single friend. Leave with meaningful connections, memories, and maybe even a romantic spark!
Meet our Event Host: Violet Rain Freedom "Vee"
Vee (they/them) is a transformational coach, retreat facilitator, and executive producer of the Lesbo.Queer Community, where they help lesbians, queer women, and nonbinary people find community through social gatherings, singles events, and retreats.
Their coaching approach focuses on self-awareness, authenticity, and understanding the patterns that shape our relationships. Through guided reflection and honest conversation, Vee helps people explore their needs, recognize limiting beliefs, and build more intentional connections with themselves and others.
Based in Utah, Vee has led queer-centered retreats in Costa Rica that combine personal growth, community, and shared experiences.

Our guests at the Fenix Hotel enjoy stepping out of their rooms onto the white sand beach.
The property includes a small pool, hammocks, and beach beds for everyone, and a quiet unpopulated beach front.
It is a WOW.
We are a 15-minute ocean stroll to the city center with 20+ restaurants. Close enough but far enough to get away from it all.
Your Room
Whether you are coming with a partner or solo, our guests enjoy an apartment-style hotel room with a main living area and full kitchen. The regular event fee as a solo traveler includes a shared room with two XL twins. Coming as a couple? You will both pay the regular event fee for a King bed.
As a solo traveler, you may also upgrade to a private room with a King bed for $699.
All bedrooms have A/C.

Each day begins with breakfast, then a morning workshop and daytime activity. In the afternoon, return for another evening experience. You just need to show up. Your entire vacation is planned for you!

The Add-on Adventure is a 5-day tour through Costa Rica, just for retreat participants. Transportation, housing, and activities are included; food is not.

Friday - Welcome to Costa Rica
Arrival & Shuttle: Arrive at Liberia Airport, where we can help coordinate your shuttle to the Fenix Hotel. The scenic 1-hour-and-45-minute drive takes you through lush countryside, with possible wildlife sightings and opportunities to stop for fresh tropical fruit and local treats.
Settle In: Unpack, kick off your shoes, and enjoy your new beachfront surroundings.
Welcome Gathering & Dinner: Meet Vee and your fellow retreat participants for introductions, followed by an included grill dinner under the palms, with the sound of the ocean in the background.
Saturday - Getting to Know Each Other
Sámara Farmers Market: Explore the town's lively market, where you can sample tropical fruits and homemade empanadas, browse handmade crafts, and experience local food, music, and culture.
Session with Vee: Get to know yourself and your fellow participants through guided reflection and conversation about your hopes for love and connection.
Photo Scavenger Hunt: Team up with other participants for a fun adventure exploring Sámara, discovering local spots, and sharing a few laughs.
Optional Beachfront Dinner: Enjoy sunset drinks and dinner at a local oceanfront restaurant with the group
Sunday - Exploring Connection
Session with Vee: Explore relationships and authentic connection through guided reflection and group discussion.
Kayaking Adventure: Paddle to a nearby uninhabited island, keeping an eye out for sea turtles, pelicans, stingrays, and other coastal wildlife.
Optional Dinner & Dancing: Join the group at a favorite local restaurant, then head out for salsa or bachata lessons and drinks at a beach bar.
Monday - Patterns and Possibilities
Beachfront Yoga: Start the day with gentle yoga and meditation by the ocean.
Session with Vee: Reflect on relationship patterns and how past experiences shape the ways we connect with others.
Waterfall Adventure: Take a short jungle hike to a waterfall and swimming hole, or relax at a nearby restaurant with scenic views.
Optional Karaoke Night: After dinner, join locals and fellow travelers for a fun evening of karaoke in Sámara.
Tuesday - Reflection & Relaxation
Session with Vee: Explore your needs, desires, and boundaries in relationships through guided reflection and conversation.
Free Time & Self-Care: Lounge in a hammock, stroll along the beach, take a dip in the pool, or treat yourself to an optional beachfront massage.
Optional Sunset Cruise: Head out on the water for drinks, dancing, and a chance to spot dolphins or whales.
Wednesday - Connections & Celebration
Final Session with Vee: Reflect on what you've learned, the connections you've made, and how you'd like to carry these insights into your future relationships.
Free Afternoon: Enjoy the beach, explore Sámara, shop for souvenirs, or spend more time with your new friends.
Margarita & Pizza Party: Celebrate your week together with our private beach party, featuring pizza, pineapple margaritas, and live music by a local musician. We often invite lesbians and queer women who live in town to join us for this party!
Thursday - Until We Meet Again
Farewell Breakfast: Enjoy one last breakfast by the ocean and time to exchange contact information and say goodbye to your new friends.
Departure: Pack your bags and head home with meaningful connections and memories of your week in Costa Rica. We will help coordinate your return shuttle to Liberia Airport.

Thursday
Adventure Week is all about exploring more of what Costa Rica has to offer. You will see the must-see's (national parks, coffee tours & sloth sanctuaries) along with a few local secrets (hot springs, thousand year-old trees, and local food favorites).
We will kick off the day in Samara with a horseback riding adventure and cross rivers to nearby beaches, strolling through lush farmland and hidden backroads to discover views along the coast.
Friday
We are traveling to MonteVerde cloud forest today! Nestled in the lush highlands of Costa Rica, Monteverde is a world-renowned eco-destination celebrated for its breathtaking cloud forests and incredible biodiversity. Wear a jacket. The weather is much cooler up in the clouds than on the beach!
Spend your afternoon exploring this charming town, nestled high in the clouds, with its delightful shops, cozy cafes, and inviting restaurants.
In the evening, you will tour the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Experience the magic of the Monteverde rainforest after dark on a guided night tour, where you’ll encounter nocturnal wildlife and the sounds of the jungle under the starry Costa Rican sky.
Saturday
Day two in Monteverde starts with with an optional Hanging Bridges Tour, walking through the breathtaking beauty of the Monteverde Cloud Forest.
In the afternoon, we will visit a local coffee farm and spend time with the family who runs it. Learn how coffee is grown, harvested, and dried, then try pressing sugar cane and tasting the juice, and take home freshly processed organic beans. Local coffee makes the perfect gift for friends and family.
For dinner, enjoy live music at one of the iconic tree top restaurants and enjoy the company of your new best friends.
Sunday
We are off to Rio Celeste this morning, one of the most iconic spots in all of Costa Rica.
After a refreshing hike, discover the mesmerizing turquoise water of Rio Celeste, a natural wonder nestled within Tenorio Volcano National Park. Complement your adventure with a visit to a Sloth Sanctuary and then we'll relax at a nearby hot springs resort, where you'll rest after your day of hiking.
In the evening, we will head to Liberia to stay in a hotel right across the street from the airport. No need to worry about morning travel!
Monday
The event officially ends Monday morning as you fly out of Liberia Airport. You will leave with travel friends for life.

Q: Who is the retreat for?
This event is exclusively for single lesbian and queer women (including cis and trans women) and nonbinary people who are interested in exploring relationships, personal growth, and meaningful connections.
You're welcome to come solo or bring a friend, as long as you're both single. The retreat is designed to help everyone connect with new people, so there will be plenty of opportunities to mingle.
Q: What can I expect from the sessions with Vee?
Each full retreat day includes a guided reflection session with Vee. Through personal-development exercises and group conversations, you'll explore relationship patterns, your needs and boundaries, and what you're looking for in a partner. The sessions are designed to encourage self-discovery and authentic connection.
We encourage you to join the group experiences, but participation is always optional. There's plenty of free time to enjoy the beach, relax by the pool, or explore Sámara at your own pace.
Q: What is included in the retreat price?
INCLUDED: Six nights of beachfront accommodations at the Fenix Hotel, daily breakfasts, five guided sessions with Vee, and scheduled group activities, including kayaking, yoga, and a waterfall hike. You'll also enjoy a welcome grill dinner and a farewell margarita and pizza party with live music.
NOT INCLUDED: Airfare, airport transportation, restaurant meals and drinks, and optional extras--such as massages and the sunset cruise, which are available at an additional cost.
Q: Is Sámara welcoming to LGBTQIA+ travelers?
Absolutely! Costa Rica is a regional leader in LGBTQ+ rights and the only country in Central America to legalize same-sex marriage.
Sámara is a laid-back, welcoming beach town known for its friendly, open-minded atmosphere. You can feel comfortable being yourself, both at the hotel and while exploring the area.
As with any destination, we recommend taking normal travel precautions.
Q: Should I rent a car for the Retreat Week?
We recommend you rent a car, especially if you don't enjoy walking frequently. You can either rent a car at Liberia Airport to get to the retreat center, or you can take a shuttle to get to the Fenix, then rent a car in town.
Q: What airport do I fly into, and how do I get to the retreat?
Fly into Liberia International Airport (LIR) in Costa Rica. The Fenix Hotel is approximately a 1-hour-and-45-minute drive from the airport.
We can help coordinate a shared or private shuttle, or you can rent a car.
You'll need a valid passport to enter Costa Rica.
Q: How much is airfare to Liberia Airport from the US?
$700- $1000 from the US is normal, and we recommend checking the discount airlines directly. Southwest and Alaska have round trip flights regularly for $500.
Q: How big is Samara?
Samara is a quaint, travel-friendly beachfront town with 20+ restaurants and shops, banks, etc. It is not a party town.
Q: How far are we from town?
About a 15-minute beach walk to Samara city center.
Q: Will there be people who aren't part of our group there?
Nope. All lesbian and queer women and non-binary folks.
Q: What is the age range? Are children welcome?
Adults of all ages are welcome, although our retreats tend to attract guests ages 35 and older. This is an adults-only retreat.
Q: Can I do additional tours / excursions?
If you have dream to helicopter, zipline, or surf, we have tours for that and more. We'll have a list to choose from when you get here.
Q: Can I come early / stay after?
As long as the hotel has availability for those dates, absolutely. Contact us to book the hotel as a regular hotel guest outside of the event week. (This site is the only place to book a spot for this event.)
Q: Who will I share a room with? Can I get a private room?
The standard retreat price includes a shared room with two XL twin beds. If you're coming alone, we'll pair you with another participant. Friends attending together can request to share a room.
Prefer your own space? Private rooms with a king bed are available for an additional $699, subject to availability.
Q: What is the cancellation policy?
Deposits are non-refundable.
All other payments are 70% refundable up to 90 days before the event.

Q: Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! You can make a $500 down payment with the remainder due 60 days before the event.
